WWE Legend Says He Is No Longer Watching AEW Dynamite

Jim Cornette announced on The Jim Cornette Experience that he is done watching AEW Dynamite, saying the show has become repetitive and he no longer sees a reason to continue tuning in each week.

Cornette said his decision came after watching a portion of the latest episode and deciding life is too short to keep watching the same people do the same things every week.

“There was still about an hour or so to go of this program, and life is too short for me to sit here and watch these same people do the same things every week in the same kind of matches with the same kind of people,” Cornette said. “So unless somebody either does something spectacularly fantastic and newsworthy or has projectile diarrhea on their opponent in the middle of the ring on live TV, just assume that everything that I’ve said going forward about AEW Dynamite is the same every week and will save us both some time.”

Co-host Brian Last asked Cornette if he had any final words for AEW Dynamite. Cornette’s response was brief.

“Thank you. F**k you. Bye,” Cornette said.

Last said his only counter-argument would be that if something significant happens on the show, he would send it to Cornette, but acknowledged the show has been bad.

Cornette also addressed the ongoing changes to how Nielsen measures television ratings, saying he no longer trusts the numbers regardless of what they show. He said Nielsen has changed its methodology multiple times in recent years, first adopting a Big Data panel that caused ratings to shift, then reversing course, and now changing things again with reports showing more television viewers and fewer streaming viewers.

“They don’t know what the f**k they’re doing,” Cornette said. “I’m done with the numbers too. It’s ridiculous.”

Cornette said the repeated methodology changes have destroyed Nielsen’s credibility. “If they were f**ked up before, who says they’re not f**ked up now?” Cornette said. “They have lost all their credibility with me.”

Cornette has been one of the most prominent and polarizing voices in wrestling media commentary on AEW since the promotion launched in 2019. His weekly reviews of AEW programming on The Jim Cornette Experience and Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru have been a consistent part of his podcast since the start of AEW.
