WWE suing AEW over “Bash at the Beach” name?

It looks like WWE is not happy about AEW moving forward with their decision to use the “Bash at the Beach” name for this week’s episode of Dynamite on TNT.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that The Elite gave a speech to the crowd after the Dark tapings in Miami and there was a comment made about them getting in a legal battle for using the “Bash at the Beach” name for this week’s Dynamite.

There is no word on if WWE has actually filed a lawsuit or if they are just calling AEW’s bluff but it’s worth noting that Cody Rhodes registered the “Bash at the Beach” trademark last year and he has registered other former WCW pay-per-view names that were created by his father, Dusty Rhodes.

The events taking place next week on “Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Rager at Sea: Part Deux” are being billed as being part of AEW’s “Bash at the Beach” tour and next week’s Dynamite is also being run under the “Bash at the Beach” banner so it doesn’t look like AEW is too worried about WWE’s legal threats.

WWE has issued similar legal threats to promotions over the years and they would usually back down since they don’t have the money to fight them in court. In AEW’s case, they have plenty of money to fight WWE if necessary so it will be interesting to see if anything comes out of this story.
