During an interview with PWInsider, AEW President Tony Khan gave some details on plans for Rampage’s taping schedule.
As previously noted, the show will debut in August on the Friday night at 10 pm eastern timeslot on TNT. Khan said that Rampage will be taped on some weeks and there will be a lot of weeks when the show will air live. On the weeks when the show is taped, they will tape on the same day as Dynamite. AEW plans on doing pay-per-view go-home shows live so, for example, they will go live on the night before the Full Gear pay-per-view in November.
Khan also said that Elevation will be a shorter show and it will be taped before Dynamite and he said that he will procure a venue to tape Dark and other content.
Khan also talked about some of the talent that has gone on to get signed after working on Dark shows, including Red Velvet and Will Hobbs. Khan stated that The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) was a team that he put together and they were both guys that WWE wanted.
Khan said, “I think they were both people the WWE wanted, and I really wanted to use both of them. And then I thought about it and I had this thought about the Acclaimed and I brought them together. And there’s a lot of teams that have gotten, I think, the benefit of Dark and Elevation as platforms that are kind of teams that I’ve kind of put together. The same, the Acclaimed got the amazing reaction at Double or Nothing. Particularly in the beginning of the Battle Royale when Max rapped. Anthony is an actor, such a versatile wrestler.”
The Acclaimed is one of the most over acts in AEW so it was smart of them to get them under contract. One has to wonder how they would have fared in WWE. Some wrestlers have achieved success but many names who should be bigger stars in NXT (Jake Atlas, for example) and on the main roster have been pushed down the card.
