WWE’s TV network partners are shocked that AEW was able to sign CM Punk

As noted earlier, Andrew Zarian reported that there are rumors that Vince McMahon and people in WWE management are very unhappy about losing Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) to AEW but not so upset that they don’t have CM Punk under contract.

However, WWE’s TV partners are apparently not thrilled about CM Punk being signed to an AEW contract.

Zarian said, “WWE’s network partners are shocked AEW is pulling off the CM Punk deal…the partners are shocked because they are not big wrestling fans. They only know names and when they hear a name like that [thay wonder] why would they let him go? They don’t really know the inter-workings [and] of course, they are shocked. There’s a lot of stuff going on with the partners…”

Last night on AEW Dynamite, it was announced that AEW Rampage on August 20 will take place at Chicago’s United Center and it was teased by Darby Allin that he will be the first person to face Punk. It’s also believed that the August 20 Rampage show is when Punk will show up.
