Last week there was a lot of talk about the Bound For Glory main event and fans wondered what was and wasn’t real when Austin Aries no-sold Johnny Impact’s finisher and then proceeded to get up and walk to the backstage area.
A source told Dave Meltzer that Aries has a minor concussion and is physically beaten down but there are a lot of layers on what went down at Bound For Glory.
Impact Wrestling did not confirm or was not aware of the concussion and people who talked to him after the match did not see any signs that anything was wrong. However, Aries and Impact were stiffing each other during the first few minutes of the match because they wanted to try to make things look like a shoot. Later in the match, they did a hard-hitting New Japan style.
The other thing that has been confirmed is that Aries’ contract really did expire and he has not signed a new deal. This was first said last week on Petey Williams’ podcast. Aries was still in New York on 10/8 on the day of the TV tapings and then was sent home and the stuff that was planned for him had to be rewritten.
I guess we’ll see if a new deal is reached before the next set of tapings in Las Vegas. Meltzer noted that there’s been some Brian Pillmanesque stuff going on with him and you could see some of that during the hype leading up to Bound For Glory.
