Anthem Sports President Ed Nordholm was on David Penzer’s podcast this week to talk about Impact Wrestling and the future for the company.
Nordholm revealed that they were close to shutting down last year. He said, “I would say that when we got into August & September of 2017, I think that was probably coming into our darkest period and we had to make some hard decisions on whether we could or should carry on.”
Nordholm indicated that the future of their content would be on the digital side. There is no word on where the show will air in 2019.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that although everyone knew that football season would affect the Impact TV ratings, there was frustration in the company coming out of Slammiversary because that was a well-received show but ratings continued to decline before football started. It’s even more frustrating because the product has been better and the feeling was that it would lead to a ratings increase but the opposite has happened. The ratings during football season have declined more this year than in the past.
Impact Wrestling will present Bound For Glory on Sunday night from the Melrose Ballroom in New York City. We will have live coverage here on WrestlingNews.co
