Impact Wrestling has been in good standing regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The promotion has been holding TV tapings and pay-per-view events for the last several months. There are no fans allowed to be in attendance for the shows though. AEW and WWE have dealt with talent and production people testing positive for the virus since the pandemic started in March.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “there was a COVID test positive from the last tapings.”
The report noted that a few wrestlers were notified to get checked due to a positive, but were not told who it was. Other people were not told about the positive test.
A wrestler told Meltzer that “most of the wrestlers were not told and were very hot having to hear the news through gossip.” This same wrestler thought it was part of a group of several people who all traveled together and were tight.
Up until this point, the promotion hasn’t dealt with any positive tests. They only do temperature checks and not testing. It was added that one wrestler told him “they were the only major company not testing which they felt was very irresponsible.”
In addition to temperature checks, AEW and WWE also do off-site testing for the virus.
