Impact Wrestling has announced that they are bringing back the “Ultimate X” match for Slammiversary with the X-Division Championship being defended. For those of you who have not seen this type of match, the Ultimate X consists of connected metal structures coming up from all four sides of the ring with cables crossing over the ring. The goal is to capture the “X” hanging over the ring. Don Callis is believed to have come up with the concept during the early days of TNA in 2004.
The match will feature champion Josh Alexander vs. Trey Miguel vs. Ace Austin vs. Chris Bey vs. Rohit Raju vs. Petey Williams.
The other match that has been announced for the show is Kenny Omega defending the Impact World Championship. It’s unclear exactly who he will face because his opponent was supposed to be Sami Callihan but, per the storyline, Don Callis announced last week that Callihan has been fired.
Slammiversary will air on Saturday, July 17 on pay-per-view.
BREAKING: ULTIMATE X will return at #Slammiversary on July 17th as @Walking_Weapon will defend the X-Division Championship against @TheTreyMiguel, @The_Ace_Austin, @DashingChrisBey, @HakimZane and @iPeteyWilliams!
