Impact Wrestling seems to be teasing the signing of several released WWE Superstars.
On tonight’s episode of Impact on AXS TV, they aired a video to tease the Slammiversary pay-per-view that will air on Saturday, July 18th.
The video starts out with someone in a hood pouring a drink into a glass and then watching a “reporter” break the news about “over 20 superstars” that were released from their contracts.
The video then showed brief clips of Eric Young, the Bulgarian flag (a reference to Rusev), Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Rockstar Spud (Drake Maverick), Curt Hawkins, Mike Benett, Maria Kanellis and EC3.
The wrestlers listed above are under 90-day non-compete agreements with WWE so they can’t legally negotiate with another company right now. The non-compete agreements expire just a few days before the Slammiversary pay-per-view so, in theory, any one of those names can show up if they can make a deal in time. Maverick seems to be the least likely to appear since the belief is that he will get a new WWE contract.
It seems unlikely that all of the names listed above will sign with Impact and the video seems to be a clever way to generate some buzz for the pay-per-view.
