REPORT: Austin Aries flew home and will not be at this week’s Impact Wrestling tapings
Austin Aries will not be at this week’s Impact Wrestling tapings. This follows the strange events at the end of the World Championship match at Bound For Glory in New York City.
For those of you that haven’t been keeping up, Aries and Johnny Impact have been cutting worked shoot promos on each other in recent weeks and they did a pull-apart brawl at Abyss’ Impact Hall Of Fame induction on Saturday night.
The match between Impact and Aries was stiff and was wrestled in a way to look like they were not cooperating for each other but the match settled into a traditional wrestling match.
Impact won the title and, as you can see in the clip below, Aries got up and no-sold the finish and looked up at Ed Nordholm and Don Callis and said something to them before walking out.
On the surface, this all looks like work, especially because, during the match, Callis made comparisons to the Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels issues in 1997.
For whatever it’s worth, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Aries has already flown home.
“There are Impact Wrestling tapings today and tomorrow and Austin Aries went home. So he is not going to be at the tapings. So you can make of that what you will,” Alvarez said.
You can see the clip of Aries walking out below:
Austin Aries no sells Starship Pain (Johnny Impact's finisher), trash talks fans, flips bird and walks out of #BoundForGlory #BFGCOMDA. Johnny is the new world champion.

I guess we’ll have to wait to see how things play out on TV to see how much of this is legit.
