The 8/2 episode of Impact Wrestling dropped to just 168,000 viewers. That is a scary number and you can probably attribute the number to preseason football. Last night’s show was one of their least watched episodes in company history.
The news could be worse in the coming weeks when the NFL regular season starts. The company really needs to address their TV situation. At this point, it doesn’t seem like there’s any way for them to get any traction on Pop TV.
Their TV deal gives them some exposure but they need more eyeballs on their product if they expect to be a full-time touring company again. The Pop deal is also not lucrative for them and they need to get on a station that will pay them. Sadly, their ratings have continued to drop while their product has gotten better under the new management and this ratings news does not help them when it comes time to negotiate a paying TV deal.
