The latest angle involving IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho under the NJPW banner took place on Saturday morning during the press conference to promote New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest event of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 13.
The pro wrestling veteran is slated to make his next title defense against Tetsuya Naito at this show. During the press conference, Jericho began insulting Naito by calling him names and telling him what he’ll do when they meet inside of the ring again. This led to Naito spitting a mouthful of water in Jericho’s face and a brawl broke out. Near the end of the presser, Jericho stated he wants to retire Naito.
Moving along to the NJPW Road to Tokyo Dome – Night 2 event, Jericho got physical yet again when he attacked Naito, BUSHI and Shingo Takagi with a chair after their match had ended.

Following the angle, Jericho took to his Instagram account where he wrote the following:
“Today’s story… Naito spits water on me at the @njpw1972 press conference, so I beat the hell out of him with a chair at #KorakuenHall. Seems fair right? See u at #WrestleKingdom Naito-San!”
Wrestle Kingdom 13 is slated to take place on January 4, 2019, at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan and will air live on NJPW World and air on Fite TV.
