NJPW could be losing one of its top stars as they head into the new year before hosting Wrestle Kingdom 19 on Saturday and Wrestle Dynasty on Sunday.
This happens every year as the promotion renews deals starting in the middle of January. NJPW will look to keep Gabe Kidd under contract.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion has his New Japan Pro Wrestling contract coming up soon. It was noted that Kidd is expected to be someone the promotion hopes to retain. It’s unclear whether the contract talks have begun yet.
Kidd is slated to wrestle Kenny Omega at Wrestle Dynasty, which will mark Omega’s first match in over a year due to his battle with diverticulitis. In addition to his work for NJPW, he has also worked a handful of ROH TV tapings.
