In a match that will be looked at as a Match of the Year candidate, Hiromu Takahashi defeated Will Ospreay to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship during night 1 of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Ospreay worked on Takahashi’s neck throughout the match and despite several close pin attempts, Takahashi was able to win with a new move that looked to be a cross between a cradle piledriver and a Death Valley Driver.
Both men looked great and Takahashi did not show any signs of ring rust during the match after the long layoff due to his neck issues.
