It appears that Jon Moxley will be returning to the ring under the NJPW banner soon.
Dave Meltzer noted in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the belief is Moxley will be working one of the nights at WrestleKingdom 14.
Meltzer wrote, “It hasn’t been announced but the belief is Jon Moxley is working the Tokyo Dome. From those in AEW, they believe that to be the case but weren’t 100 percent on it.”
Meltzer noted that the logical match for Moxley would be for him to challenge Lance Archer for the United States Title since Moxley never lost the title.
He did point out that NJPW set up a feud between Lance Archer and Juice Robinson at a recent show in San Jose but speculated that they could make it a triple threat match to include Moxley, although that’s not confirmed.
Back in October, Moxley had to vacate the IWGP US Championship. He was supposed to defend the title against Juice Robinson in a No DQ Match at the NJPW King of Pro Wrestling event but didn’t make it due to Typhoon Hagibis hitting Japan.
Moxley was among wrestlers who couldn’t make it to the show. This led to NJPW making some adjustments to the card.
Both nights of Wrestle Kingdom 14 will take place at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan on January 4 and 5.
