Judo Gold Medalist Aaron Wolf Wins Gold In Pro Wrestling Debut Match

Aaron Wolf has captured the NEVER Openweight Championship in his debut as a professional wrestler. At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20, the judo gold medalist defeated EVIL to win the title, overcoming significant interference from the House of Torture stable.

The match was filled with the usual antics associated with EVIL’s faction. Multiple members of House of Torture interfered freely, attempting to stack the odds against the Olympian. Wolf faced several setbacks, including having powder thrown in his face and being put through a table by Bad Luck Fale. However, Wolf received backup from YOH, Toru Yano, and Master Wato, who came out to even the numbers. Wolf also utilized his judo background to take out several members of the opposing group with throws.

In the end, Wolf persevered through the chaos. He locked EVIL in a triangle choke, causing the former champion to pass out and giving Wolf the victory via referee stoppage.

Wolf’s journey to the title began when it was announced in June that he had signed with NJPW and would make his debut at Wrestle Kingdom. The match was made official in October after Wolf made a save for Boltin Oleg. During the press conference for the bout, EVIL spray-painted the NEVER title and claimed it was his “own gold medal,” mocking Wolf’s Olympic achievements.

In other news from Wrestle Kingdom 20, the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships also changed hands. The team of Zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa, and Hartley Jackson emerged as the new champions by winning the Ranbo. They secured the victory by eliminating the former champions Bishimon and Boltin Oleg.
