Matt Riddle issues challenge to top NJPW star at New Year Dash

Matt Riddle’s post-WWE career has been active as he has already started working for MLW and is now coming to NJPW.

Journey

Following a successful stint in WWE NXT and the main roster, Riddle’s journey in the company took a downturn when Randy Orton suffered a severe back injury, forcing them to relinquish the Raw Tag Team Titles. This incident led to WWE canceling their plans for a feud between the two.

Riddle went to rehab last summer to address substance-related problems after failing drug tests. Prior to his departure, he had been teamed up with Drew McIntyre. Riddle was among the many talented individuals released by the company, impacting both NXT and the main roster a few months ago.

Riddle will work MLW Kings Of Colosseum on January 6 for a match against Jacob Fatu. He has made a few appearances on MLW TV in recent weeks through pre-tapes.

NJPW arrival

During NJPW New Year Dash today, a vignette aired where Riddle issued a challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NJPW World TV Championship. It’s unclear when the bout will take place.

Tanahashi said that he would have to do his research because he had no idea who Riddle was.
