The television deal between AXS TV and NJPW (New Japan Pro-Wrestling) has come to an end.
On Friday, the promotion announced they will not be airing any TV content in the United States in 2020. Thus, it means that they are done with AXS TV.
In recent weeks, AXS TV has aired NJPW programming but the shows didn’t feature new content.
“In response to US fan queries. There are currently no plans for TV broadcast of NJPW events in 2020 (WK14 included) in the US. Thank you for joining us on TV so far. We invite you to join @njpwworld for all the action in 2020, LIVE and in English! https://njpwworld.com #njpw”
Back in September, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of Impact Wrestling, acquired a majority interest in HDNet LLC, which is the parent company of AXS TV and HDNet Movies.
Since then, it’s been reported that the focus by AXS TV is on Impact and WOW because they own those companies. Thus, it led to speculation as to what the future of NJPW on the television network would be. Today’s news answered those questions.
