NJPW has fans talking after they shared a new video featuring a meeting between NJPW president Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kenny Omega on Thursday morning.
The clip is a trailer for a video titled “Hiroshi Tanahashi X Kenny Omega Reunion.” It has a “coming soon” tag. This is playing off the history between the two in real life, as they’ve wrestled plenty of times, including the Wrestle Kingdom main event in 2019, in what would be Omega’s final full-time match as an NJPW star before he went to AEW.
This is where Tanahashi defeated Omega to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. They also used the Wrestle Dynasty hashtag, which could hint at Omega’s involvement in the upcoming event slated to take place on January 5, 2025, in the Tokyo Dome. NJPW, CMLL, AEW, ROH, and Stardom will all be present at the show.
In the meantime, Omega has been out of action after undergoing surgery to treat diverticulitis. Omega was in Japan last week.
