NJPW continues to cancel more events.
The promotion announced on Wednesday in a statement that events through May 4th have been canceled, which includes both Wrestling Dontaku events.
“In response to the continuing Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, and in light of state of emergency measures across Japan announced on April 7, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has arrived at the decision to cancel all events that were scheduled up to and including Wrestling Dontaku 2020 on May 3 & 4.”
The statement also mentioned that the promotion is exploring the possibility of presenting matches without fans in attendance. However, the promotion made it clear that it would only happen if “staff and wrestler health and safety can be protected to the highest possible standard.”
The last show that the promotion held was back on February 26. NJPW previously canceled their events for the entire month of March and a portion of April.
