“Switchblade” Jay White leaving NJPW, WWE and AEW is said to be interested

“Switchblade” Jay White is about to hit the free agent market.

Fightful Select reports that White’s contract is up relatively soon, and he is expected to leave New Japan Pro Wrestling. The report noted that people believe in both WWE and AEW that the promotions are interested in signing him. WWE sources seemed confident they would land him.

AEW and WWE can’t legally talk with him until his NJPW deal is up. It’s always possible that White and NJPW can reach an agreement on a new deal.

White is slated to work a “loser leaves Japan” match in Osaka, Japan, on February 11 against Hikuleo, someone else that WWE has been interested in. The NJPW roster believes that White wants to be in the United States for the time being.

WWE has heavily recruited him in the past, which White himself confirmed to Fightful happened in early 2021, and Fightful was told had only accelerated

Last week, White headlined Wrestle Kingdom against Kazuchika Okada, where he dropped the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.

There had been reports years ago that White was under contract with NJPW until 2025, and AEW had an interest in him, but White has denied those claims.
