Will Ospreay wins IWGP World Heavyweight Title at NJPW Sakura Genesis

Will Ospreay

In the main event of Sunday’s NJPW Sakura Genesis event, Will Ospreay beat Kota Ibushi to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.

The finish of the match saw Ospreay connect with the stormbreak to get the win. After the match, the newly crowned champion called out Kazuchika Okada so he could get revenge for dropping a loss to him at Wrestle Kingdom 15.

When Okada came out, he was interrupted by Shingo Takagi, who brought up beating Okada in the first round of the New Japan Cup. Thus, he felt he should get a title shot and issued a challenge. Ospreay agreed and will defend the title against Takagi first then Okada.
