Deonna Purrazzo on being in the ring with Faby Apache at Triplemania, her upcoming match with Melina at NWA EmPowerrr

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion was on Busted Open Radio this week to talk about becoming wrestling’s new belt collector. Purrazzo won the AAA Reina de Reinas title at Triplemania XXIX.

Here are some highlights:

Deonna Purrazzo talking about being in the ring with Faby Apache at Rey de Reyes:

“I don’t think I get intimidated easily anymore, but the entire scenario is intimidating. I’m in this country. I’ve only wrestled for them once before. I’m being shot to the top. I get a title shot right away. Then I also don’t speak their language so there is that component to it. Even more so than where I’ve been anywhere else, I go there and I feel kind of isolated. I can’t really communicate too much with anyone. It’s very basic and small conversations, so I’m alone most of the day. Then to be in the ring with Faby, I don’t even know how many Triplemanias she’s been on or how many top level situations she’s been in Mexico. All of it combined was like, holy crap, this is life changing for me. I definitely felt that emotionally. I got emotional because this is something I never thought I’d get to do, and I get to do it as the Impact Knockouts Champion. There’s just a whole other component to it. It was intimidating but you put on a brave face, go out there, and do the best you can.  It was my night.”

Deonna talking about her upcoming match with Melina at NWA EmPowerrr:

“I think that is what’s so cool about wrestling right now is you don’t know who’s going to pop up where, what shows are going to happen, and who will be involved. I think that is what the selling point to professional wrestling is right now. Now that it’s an all women’s show, that ups the ante, and who wouldn’t want to be part of this historic event? I know I’ve given Mickie (James) a little hell about it, but to be considered a part of it is so meaningful for me, especially from a women’s wrestling standpoint. I’m excited. I never thought I’d get to wrestle Melina, so that’s a whole other thing in itself. I’m just excited for the event as a whole.”
