Jim Cornette will no longer be doing color commentary for the NWA as he has resigned from the promotion following controversial comments that he made.
On Tuesday, NWA had to temporarily pull the latest Power due to remarks he made during a match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch. The episode has since been uploaded again but without the remarks from Cornette.
Aldis, who serves as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, issued a statement on the matter which you can read here.
On Wednesday morning, the promotion issued a statement that announced the departure of Cornette. The National Wrestling Alliance sent out the following:
“JIM CORNETTE RESIGNS FROM THE NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE
Effective immediately Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance.
As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance.
To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we’ve established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward.
We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.”
Cornette did send out a tweet this morning where he indicated that he would talk about it this Friday on his podcast by noting that it would “be a good one if you like hearing stupid people told what they can do with their stupidity.”
