Serena Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa to capture the NWA Women’s Championship tonight at the United Wrestling Network Prime Time Live pay-per-view.
Deeb is also under AEW contract so this likely means that the AEW-NWA relationship will continue.
Things have turned around for the better for Deeb who was released by WWE several months ago as part of massive budget cuts across the company.
Deeb’s active wrestling career was thought to be over earlier this year since she was working as a coach at the Performance Center. Deeb’s work on AEW programming has been widely praised by fans and it looks like she’s getting a second chance to show more fans how good she is as a professional wrestler.
Tonight @SerenaDeeb derailed the La Mera Mera Destruction Tour to become the new World Women's Champ.
