Alberto El Patron was interviewed by “Primera Hora” in Puerto Rico. Alberto said that he has been approached by Bellator, Victory, UFC, and Fighting Americas. The UFC part contradicts what has been reported in recent days. He said that he’s done MMA before and does not feel the need to go back to fighting. He said that he would have to stop wrestling for three months so he could train for MMA and if he did that then he would ask for three months pay and his pay bonus. Alberto noted that no one has offered anything firm and if he does not get the specific amount that he’s asking for then he won’t fight. Alberto noted that he is doing well financially.
He did not mention TNA but Dave Meltzer reported last week that TNA really wanted him bad for the debut show on Destination America but they were far apart on money talks.
The Wrestling Observer newsletter reported this week that AAA is going to do a reboot with a totally different product. The word is that they will be more streamlined and will put more emphasis on using only big stars, main event draws, or young guys that can work. The Cubs Fan blog has heard that there is a new TV deal to be announced but there’s no word on a timeline.
Alberto is now the face of Home Depot in Mexico. So right now it doesn’t appear that he’ll be fighting for any MMA promotion. I don’t see how he would wrestle for Lucha Underground either since they are not making a profit yet and they would have to make an offer that would be worth his time.
