Andrade made a surprise appearance at a House of Glory event in the United States on Friday, confronting HOG World Champion Charles Mason. The segment saw Andrade lay out Mason with a hammerlock DDT and hold the championship high, signaling his intent to challenge for the title.
The appearance comes amidst a complicated contractual situation for the former WWE and AEW star. Following his firing for cause from WWE earlier this year, the company reportedly chose to uphold a one-year non-compete clause.
This legal hurdle previously halted his return to AEW after he appeared at their sixth anniversary show, as information about the clause prevented further association with the promotion.
Despite these restrictions, Andrade has managed to work select dates. He recently captured the WWC Universal Championship in Puerto Rico, claiming that WWE granted him specific approval via letter just hours before that event.
His appearance at House of Glory may indicate he is continuing to find ways to remain active on the independent scene while his long-term future remains in flux.
