Phoenix will be the first-ever woman to receive such an honor. She’ll be inducted into the portion of the Hall Of Fame designated for those with amateur wrestling backgrounds. Phoenix is a former 1999 amateur wrestling champion in North-East Wrestling and the New York State Fair. Her induction will take place from the Dan Gable Museum from July 25th to 27th.
She’ll join the likes of Bret Hart, Gene LeBell, Antonio Inoki and Ric Flair. Phoenix offered the following statement on the honor:
“I am SO humbled and grateful!!! Thank you
@wrestlingmuseum for this honor and putting a spotlight on women’s wrestling. I marvel at today’s female athletes and how they inspire all generations (including my two young daughters!)”
