We have some sad news to pass along. Media outlets in Japan are reporting that Yoshihiro Takayama is paralyzed. Three months ago he was injured from a botched DDT spot and was hospitalized. According to the initial reports, he suffered a cervical spinal cord injury and degenerative cervical spondylosis and there were no major updates on his condition until this weekend.
Takayama is said to be paralyzed from the neck down and there is a big financial burden being put on his family. There is no word on any plans to set up a fundraiser for his medical costs.
Takayama is considered to be one of the most popular names in Japanese wrestling history. He might be best known for his PRIDE fight with Don Frye and he’s held titles in All Japan Pro Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and the NOAH Global Honored Crown Heavyweight Championship.
We wish him the best and if any more information becomes available then we will pass it along.

I hate hearing this. Takayama gave his life to the sport & had a legendary career. He was a sweetheart the brief time I met him, get well. https://t.co/iqBTqlnHR2
