Last month top independent wrestling star Joey Ryan suffered a torn pectoral injury that will keep him sidelined for quite some time. His last match came at an MLW taping in November, which he wrestled in a sling as his arm was already injured at that point. Given the nature of his injury, Ryan will likely be sidelined for a significant period of time.
Late last month, Ryan provided a detailed update on his status:
“The MRI revealed that I have an acute tear of the left pectoral muscle including a high-grade tear of the clavicular head at the myotendinous junction and a high-grade intratendinous tear of the sternal head with retraction and hemorrhage into the muscle belly. Disorganized fibers of the muscle tendon tear identified within the deltopectorial groove.
“The Doctor is recommending surgery and I’m to call the surgeon on Monday or Tuesday to set up an appointment to see them. A timetable on recovery will be determined by the surgeon.”
Last night, Ryan took to Twitter and provided another update. He was forced to cancel several tour dates as a result of his injury:
Due to my current injury status, unfortunately I have to cancel the following;
• 12/8 @HouseofHardcore
• 12/9 @FestWrestling
• 12/13-14 @MLW
• 12/22 @HurricanePro1
• 12/27 @VAWrestling
However, I will still be doing 12/16 at @APCcatch in Paris.
