Mauro Ranallo Is Returning To Pro Wrestling Commentary

Mauro Ranallo will be returning to professional wrestling.

In addition to his combat sports background, he has also been called pro wrestling, which includes WWE and NJPW programming. Ranallo worked as the lead announcer of WWE SmackDown from 2015 to 2017 before taking a hiatus and returning in 2017 as the announcer for NXT until 2020.

Ranallo returned to wrestling to call Kenny Omega and Rich Swann’s title vs. title match at Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view in April 2021. This is after he had talks with MLW about calling their programming.

Now, he will work for Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling promotion. While speaking with Insight with Chris Van Vliet, D’Amore shared that Ranallo will be the lead commentator for his new venture.

D’Amore said, “And I think we have one of the very best. I think indisputably the best combat sports cross-genre announcer because Mauro Ranallo has agreed to be the voice of Maple Leaf Pro.”

MLPW launches this October with Forged in Excellence shows at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on October 19 and 20. Raj Dhesi (AKA Jinder Mahal), Konosuke Takeshita, El Phantasmo, Josh Alexander, Gisele Shaw, KUSHIDA, Alex Zayne, Kevin Knight, Jake Something, Trevor Lee, and Kylie Rae have been announced. The shows will air on TrillerTV.

D’Amore noted that he met Mauro nearly 25 years ago in Stampede Wrestling, where he came in as a heel to feud with Sabu. He praised Ranallo for his love of wrestling and for being one of the best announcers in the world.
