The rise of fandom to New Japan Pro Wrestling has been pretty incredible in the past couple of years and 2017 saw the true rise of The Bullet Club on a global scale. Just their implementation in Hot Topic stores alone bodes well for them as absolute powerhouses in pro wrestling.
But it looks like 2018 is going to be a great year for NJPW as well if their card for Wrestle Kingdom 12 is any indication of things.
On January 3rd New Japan will hold a Wrestle Kingdom Fan Festa akin to WrestleMania’s Axxess events. There will be some autograph signings, some press conferences, and a special announcement concerning an upcoming NJPW video game. Tickets for this event are already sold out which really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
The rumor mill is churning pretty heavily about this video game announcement and although nothing official has been noted it seems to be a very strong idea. If New Japan puts out a video game, it could be pretty sweet that’s for sure.
New Japan Pro Wrestling has already really stepped up their merchandise in the past year after Bullet Club blew Hot Topic wide open during the holiday season and there are plans for even more merchandise very soon. A video game could be the perfect item to really jumpstart NJPW into a brand new frontier as well. If anything, it will be nice to get a pro wrestling video game where you don’t have to create or download other people’s creations of The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, Marty Scurll, and the rest of the BC Guys.
