On March 31st, Lucha Libre FMV filed for the trademark “Lucha Underground” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The trademark filing falls under television series. For those who may not know, the initial run of the promotion was a joint venture with Lucha Libre FMV, FactoryMade Ventures, Lucha Libre AAA, Robert Rodriguez, and the MGM Television Group.
Here is the description:
“IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: A downloadable television series featuring wrestling. FIRST USE: 20170315. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20170315
IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: A non-downloadable television series featuring wrestling. FIRST USE: 20141014. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20141014.”
It was reported last month there had been talk of reviving the promotion, but it seems more and more likely that won’t happen. Instead, the theme of the show will be used under the MLW banner. Major League Wrestling has recently introduced the Azteca Underground concept.
The promotion aired on the El Rey Network on Wednesday nights. It premiered in October 2014 and ran for 4 seasons with the last episode airing in November 2018.
