REPORT: Konnan needs another kidney transplant

Konnan recently underwent successful heart surgery due to the effects of COVID-19 after testing positive for it in February 2021. However, he is still dealing with health problems.

Dave Meltzer noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that the longtime wrestler needs another kidney transplant. This will be the second time that Konnan has had a kidney transplant as the first one happened in 2007  and his body rejected it so he had to take anti-rejection drugs.

Meltzer said, “I believe it was heart surgery. When he had COVID a year ago, it really messed up his heart and kidneys and his kidneys are in really bad shape right now. About a week ago, he was getting chest pains. He thought it had to do with..he suffered some fractured ribs when he was in AEW if you remember when he took the big rig from FTR. He thought it had to do with that and ended up getting checked out. They said it was a heart issue that he got taken care of, but he still has a kidney issue to take care of. He’s back home today, but yeah, it’s pretty serious and the kidney issue is still ongoing. So he’s going to need a kidney transplant again and he thinks he has a donor.”

Konnan revealed on his “Keepin It 100″ podcast that he nearly died while he was in the hospital nearly a year ago. Konnan lost his mother in July 2020 due to issues related to COVID-19.

We wish all the best to Konnan and hope for a speedy recovery.
