El Hijo del Perro Aguayo states that Aguayo fractured three vertebrae and died on the way to the hospital. Doctors tried to revive him for 90 minutes. This was stated in the the Baja California Attorney General’s office’s autopsy report. The death is still under investigation. I am under the impression that the investigation is just something that is being done as procedure and in no way implicates Rey Mysterio. Obviously it was a freak accident and Rey is not being blamed for what happened. It is believed that there were different impacts to his spine that caused the fracture and no medical treatment could have changed the outcome of what happened. Aguayo was examined 15 days prior to his death and checked out fine, according to a commission doctor in Mexico City.
Mexican wrestler Rey Bucanero told La Aficion in Mexico that he has talked to Mysterio and Rey does not want to wrestle anymore and is leaning towards retirement. Others that know Rey Mysterio have said the same thing. Rey is said to be devastated and is not taking things well. At last word he was still going to honor his advertised appearance for WaleMania and WrestleCon.
UPDATE: Rey is in San Jose and has disputed the reports that he has been contemplating retirement.
