Rob Van Dam Reveals He Broke Both Of His Heels In MLW Match

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam, in a recent episode of his “1 Of A Kind” podcast with Rob Van Dam (RVD), detailed a significant injury he sustained during his match against Matt Riddle at MLW Battle Riot VII.

Despite finishing the bout, RVD revealed the severity of the damage, stating, “A couple weeks ago I had a match in MLW. A lot of people saw that. A lot of people don’t know that I got hurt because it was the very last move in the night. I went up to the top rope and Matt Riddle pushed me off, and the way I land on my feet normally, I kind of hug the guard rail and my weight goes into it. This one, I must have misjudged it a little bit, and I just landed on my feet and both heels blew.”

The wrestling icon initially believed he had only sprained his ankles, explaining, “I thought that my ankles were sprained. I crawled out of there. I haven’t been able to walk since. I got X-rays and both heels are broken.” RVD downplayed the situation somewhat, saying, “It’s not something that I’m not used to. I kind of routinely go through this thing.”

However, the double heel fracture has had a considerable impact on his immediate plans. “Man, it definitely made me cancel a lot of plans that I had for the next few months,” RVD admitted. Despite the painful injury, he persevered through pre-existing commitments during a busy wrestling week, adding, “but WrestleCon and WrestleMania week, I made it through all the obligations.”
