Shinjiro Otani seriously injured at Zero1 show, reportedly unable to move his extremities



Shinjiro Otani suffered a seriously injury today at the Zero1 show in Tokyo, Japan.

Otani took a German suplex into the turnbuckles from Takashi Sugiura at Sumo Hall. Otani reportedly did not take the move well and he was tended to as fans were told to leave the building. Otani was said to be unable to move his extremities.

Otani is the acting President of Zero1 and he is a legendary name in the wrestling business. The 49-year-old got his first major break in New Japan Pro Wrestling in 1992.

In 2001, he and Shinya Hashimoto created the Pro Wrestling Zero1 promotion. Otani became the top star in 2004 after Hashimoto's departure and death. At Wrestle Kingdom 7 in 2013, Otani made a special return to New Japan Pro Wrestling as a replacement for the injured Daichi Hashimoto in a tag team match.

Otani has held several champions in various promotions including the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, the NWA World Welterweight Championship, the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, and he was the first WCW Cruiserweight Champion.
