On Saturday morning the unfortunate news of Hana Kimura passing away at the age of 22 surfaced.
The Stardom star had been bullied online after an episode of a Netflix reality show, “Terrace House,” aired. In this episode, she lost her temper on one of her castmates as she was portrayed as a villain. Because of this, she received a ton of harassment from the fans.
As a result, she was dealing with severe depression and there was a lot of concern for her wellbeing on Friday night after she had shared photos on Twitter of cuts on her arm. For more on her passing and to read the statement issued by Stardom, click here.
Here is a small sample of some of the reactions from people in the wrestling business:
The passing of Hana should be a wake up call to everyone. “Online” is the real world, with real people, real emotions and very real repercussions.
WAKE UP! BE KINDER. DO BETTER. If not for yourself, for Hana. #RIPHanaKimura

I remember Todd Sinclair, who was key in bringing Stardom to ROH, raving about how good they are. One truly stood out to me that first night, it was Hana. She had “IT”, a charisma not often seen. She glowed in & out of the ring. And that smile was infectious. #RIPHanaKimura

I did not know Hana Kimura, as I am reading all the incredible things said about her, I can tell she left a great impact on this world. It’s incredibly tragic that a young woman had to be subjected to such horrific hate from people who didn’t even know her. 💔

I hope I never hear someone describe..
“negative online comments”
“part of the job”
…. ever again
Because it shouldn’t have to be.

Every last person who sent Hana abuse should be made to grovel at the feet of Kimura-san for forgiveness.
A mother has lost her child because of hateful words.
When will you learn to be responsible?

I didn’t really know you, but I know how you felt. I’ve been there. Told to die. Told I’m worthless. A piece of shit. A terrible human being. It hurts…until you want to disconnect from it all. Such an angry and sad world we are. I’m so sorry we’ve failed you. 😞 #RIPHanaKimura

I’m not sure if I met Hana Kimura, if I did it woulda been with ROH I’m guessing, but it sounds like the wrestling world lost another great soul and good friend to a lot of people. I’m sorry for everyone’s loss, and I hope you’re coping as best you can be. ❤️
