Tony Atlas offers to wrestle for Antonio Inoki’s show in North Korea

North Korea’s state news agency is saying that it will host a pro wrestling event in Pyongyang in late August. The event will be run by Antonio Inoki. Inoki is a member of the upper house of Japan’s government. Apparently, Inoki visited with Kim Yong-il and had discussions about the event. This isn’t the first time Inoki has been involved in pro wrestling for North Korea. They put together a three day event in 1995. Those shows were broadcast on pay-per-view and they were co-promoted by WCW.

Tony Atlas has offered his services and wants to wrestle at the show in August. He was quoted today by TMZ saying, “If Mr. USA wins his match, the people of North Korea will have freedom from oppression … and Mr. USA always fights for freedom and righteousness.”

I don’t think this would be a good idea for Atlas and Inoki is already getting bad press for the event.
