Trevor Lee, best known to WWE fans as Cameron Grimes, has signed with MLW and is excited about the opportunity, highlighting the potential for cross-promotional work with CMLL and NJPW as particularly appealing aspects of the deal.
Lee spoke to Fox News about his decision to join MLW, explaining what drew him to the promotion and what he hopes to accomplish during his time there. “What really entices me is they have a great production,” Lee said. “When you watch the product, the crowds are big and the crowds are loud.”
Lee was also hopeful about what he wants his MLW run to prove about him as a performer, pushing back against the perception that may have followed him from his WWE run, where he was often deployed in comedic situations as Cameron Grimes. “I want to show that I’m more than a comedy act,” Lee said. “I can have these elite tier matches. I want to see how far we can go.”
He framed the signing as the start of a new chapter rather than a late-career move, pointing to his age as evidence that there is still substantial runway ahead of him. “I’ve been waiting for an opportunity over the past couple of years,” Lee said. “I want to keep showing what I’m good at because I’m only 32 and still have a lot of time left.”
Lee had a notable NXT run as Cameron Grimes before departing WWE, becoming a fan favorite through his character and his memorable program with Ted DiBiase.
