Deonna Purrazzo defeated Billie Starkz to become the first holder of the Ring of HonorĀ Women’s Pure Championship at the Final Battle pay-per-view event. The match took place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, as part of the GalaxyCon 2025 convention weekend.
The tournament to crown the inaugural champion was a long-term initiative for the promotion. The tournament was officially announced on April 12, 2025. Several months later, on August 29, 2025, at the Death Before Dishonor event, the full bracket of 16 women was revealed.
Queen Aminata was scheduled to face Deonna Purrazzo in the semifinal round. However, Aminata was forced to forfeit the match due to an injury, allowing Purrazzo to advance to the finals automatically.
On the other side of the bracket, Billie Starkz earned her spot by competing on the same night. Starkz defeated Yuka Sakazaki to punch her ticket to the championship match. This set the stage for the final showdown almost eight full months after the tournament’s initial announcement.
The championship match was contested under ROH’s specific “Pure Rules,” a format designed to emphasize technical wrestling. Key stipulations include a ban on closed-fist punches and a limit of three rope breaks per wrestler to escape submissions or pinfalls.
The match began with a violation of the traditional Code of Honor. Starkz attempted to hit a lariat immediately following the handshake. Purrazzo anticipated the move and countered it directly into an armbar. This maneuver forced Starkz to utilize her first rope break just seconds into the contest.
Following the opening exchange, Purrazzo utilized an armbar accompanied by a fish hook. Purrazzo controlled the early portion of the match, countering Starkz’s offense. Starkz eventually lured Purrazzo to the outside of the ring, where she drove Purrazzo’s head into the steel steps to gain an advantage.
Back inside the ring, Starkz utilized strikes and executed a snap DDT to drive Purrazzo to the mat. Purrazzo regained control by targeting Starkz’s arm, a strategy consistent with her submission-based style. The action spilled to the outside again, where Purrazzo sent Starkz into the barricade.
Purrazzo attempted to whip Starkz into the ring post, but Starkz reversed the momentum and delivered a series of forearms. Purrazzo eventually ducked a strike, causing Starkz to collide with the ring post, which inflicted further damage to her arm. Capitalizing on the mistake, Purrazzo executed a side Russian leg sweep, driving the back of Starkzās head onto the announce table.
Later in the match, Starkz applied a sleeper hold, forcing Purrazzo to fall onto the ropes to break the hold with 48:38 remaining on the clock. This marked the first time Purrazzo had ever used a rope break in her Pure rules tenure. Purrazzo responded by reversing a slam attempt into a piledriver, resulting in a near fall. She immediately transitioned back to the armbar. At the 47:35 mark, Starkz grabbed the ropes, exhausting her third and final rope break.
With Starkz out of rope breaks, the rules dictated that she could no longer use the ropes to break a submission hold. Purrazzo attempted a surfboard hold through the ropes, but Starkz escaped. Starkz hit a DDT and ascended the turnbuckles for a second Swanton Bomb. Purrazzo kicked out at the count of two.
Purrazzo then locked in her signature submission, the Venus de Milo. Starkz, unable to break the hold via the ropes due to utilizing her allotment, was forced to tap out and Purrazzo won the title.
Following the decision, Deonna Purrazzo was presented with the ROH Women’s Pure Championship belt. In a display of sportsmanship consistent with the division’s rules, Starkz shook hands with the new champion.
The celebration was interrupted by Queen Aminata. The injured semifinalist came down to the ring to congratulate Purrazzo.
