Familiar name is back as head of ROH creative while Marty Scurll remains on hiatus

Earlier this week, Ring of Honor announced that they would be resuming television production. With Marty Scurll, who had been the booker, on the sidelines, the promotion has decided to use a familiar name to fill the role.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Hunter Johnston (Delirious) is back as the head of creative. Scurll is “technically on hiatus” with no responsibilities in the promotion.

Scurll took over the role upon signing a new contract at the end of 2019. In June, the promotion announced that they would be investigating claims made against wrestlers during the Speaking Out movement. Around this time, Scurll was accused of sexual assault in 2015, but ROH has not provided an update regarding the investigation.

Before Scurll took over as head booker, Delirious was in that role but remained on the creative team when Scurll started the gig. Delirious has been producing, formatting, and organizing television since the investigation regarding Scurll started.

TV tapings will start later this month and include a tournament and eight shows.
