Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis made a huge deal for All In. If Cody Rhodes is able to win the Ring Of Honor title before All In, then their match for the NWA Heavyweight Championship will be a title for title match.
This kind of booking is very interesting, especially seeing how the current climate in ROH might require Cody Rhodes to pick up the title once again.
“He may [win the ROH Title]” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “So the next Ring Of Honor pay-per-view is June 29th and it’s Marty Scurll vs Cody Rhodes vs Dalton Castle in a 3-way. Ever since Cody lost the title, it hasn’t been as interesting. I don’t know if it’s been Dalton Castle so much as the fact Dalton gets hurt so much that he hasn’t been able to get momentum but maybe it’s like it’s not like these guys are not good or as good as Cody. But Cody has got that thing, that Superstar thing and I thought that Castle should have gotten the title at one point in early 2017 because he’s got something, especially when you see him live.”
“When he won the title I wasn’t as sure, it’s that they don’t have the right challenger. They’ve got challengers, but I don’t think they’ve been the right challengers.”
So it looks like Cody Rhodes has a very good chance of walking into All In with the ROH Title around his shoulder which leads me to wonder if he might be winning the NWA Heavyweight Title to elevate that championship as well.
