It’s well known that Cody Rhodes’ exclusive deal with Ring Of Honor is set to expire soon. In fact, Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer reports that Cody’s ROH deal will expire at the end of this month (October). His final obligations on the deal will be Chris Jericho’s cruise. He is expected, however, to continue working through January, but isn’t expected to sign a new deal.
Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and Adam Page plan on staying together for wherever they move next. There is currently no word, as of this writing, as to where they are leaning. As for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Rhodes isn’t under contract with them, but would love to continue working for the promotion moving forward, if possible.
At last weekend’s NWA 70 show in Nashville, Cody dropped the NWA World Title back to Nick Aldis, after winning it from Aldis at “All In” in September. However, the title change had nothing to do with Cody’s future plans, as it was already planned in advance. ROH allowed Rhodes to win the NWA Title at “All In,” before working an NWA show, in exchange for Aldis working a few ROH shows in return.
