Ring Of Honor inks former WWE Superstar and producer to deal

Ring Of Honor (ROH) has added a new member to their staff.

It’s being reported by PWInsider that the promotion has signed on former WWE Superstar and producer Joey Mercury as a trainer and behind-the-scenes producer. Mercury had already been training talent at the ROH’s Baltimore Dojo since May. The former WWE Tag Team Champion was a member of the once-famous tag team “MNM.”

The three-time Tag Champ suffered a nasty injury during a Ladder match in December of 2006 when he was hit in the face with a ladder. He broke his nose and orbital bone. Mercury was subsequently released from the company in March of 2007. After a year of working on the indies, Mercury ultimately decided to retire from wrestling.

He came out of retirement in 2010 and returned to WWE. Over the years he had various roles with the company such as an in-ring talent, trainer and backstage producer. WWE released him from his deal in January of 2017. It looks like he’ll begin a new journey with ROH in a very similar role.
