The ROH Pure Championship is being resurrected after being dormant for 14 years.
The company announced that they will hold a tournament to crown their first Pure Champion since 2006. The first night of the tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 10 in Columbus, Ohio. The second night of matches are scheduled for Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday, April 11.
Under Pure rules, closed-fist punches are illegal and each wrestler was allowed three rope breaks per match. Rope breaks would be illegal after three have been used. It’s not clear yet if there are plans to update the Pure Championship match rules.
The return of the title was teased by the company after Will Ospreay tweeted: “Bored. What’s one of your favourite titles in wrestling? Gonna go for an underrated one for me, I loved the ROH Pure Championship. Things kinda different now but I love the design of it and the rules that went with it. Be cool if they bought it back with updated rules.”
Tickets for both events listed below will go on sale to HonorClub members on Wednesday, February 5 at 10 am eastern and at 10 am eastern on February 7 for the general public.
The participants for the tournament have yet to be announced.
