ROH keeps a big name away from WWE and AEW by signing him to a new contract

As noted earlier this week in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ring Of Honor was offering big money to keep Marty Scurll from leaving the company.

Dave Meltzer reported that the money being offered to him was in the range of what some top stars make on the WWE main roster. PWInsider has confirmed that Scurll has signed a new deal with the company, which means he will not be making the jump to AEW or WWE anytime soon. This also removes his name from potential candidates that could be revealed as the leader of the Dark Order faction.

Scurll and ROH have been in talks since November when his previous deal expired. An interesting thing to note with Scurll’s new deal is that he will also be taking a backstage role with the company.

Scurll will be taking on lead booking duties for the company with Hunter “Delirious” Johnston continuing with the company and working with Scurll.

As part of the deal, it looks like Scurll will continue working for the NWA. He is scheduled to face Nick Aldis for the NWA Championship at the Hard Times pay-per-view.
