Title match booked for NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard show

Ring of Honor Wrestling (ROH) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) are co-promoting the G1 Supercard event in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on April 6th during WrestleMania 35 weekend.

On Wednesday morning, NJPW held their 47th Anniversary Show that featured current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori beating Jushin Thunder Liger to retain the title.

After the match, the champion cut a promo in the ring about how he wants to defend his Junior Heavyweight Title at the G1 Supercard event. This is where he issued a challenge to anyone under contract with ROH but instead, current CMLL World Lightweight Champion Dragon Lee walked out and accepted the challenge. It should be noted that Lee has competed in ROH in the past.

G1 Supercard will air live on pay-per-view via cable and satellite FITE TV for $39.99 as well as on HonorClub and NJPW World. Currently, there are only two other matches booked for this show that includes Jay White is defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against the winner of the New Japan Cup.

The other match will feature the IWGP Tag Titles and ROH World Tag Team Titles being on the line as IWGP Tag Team Champions The Guerrillas Of Destiny will face The Briscoes or PCO and Brody King, who are slated to meet at the ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view. This show will feature The Briscoes defend the ROH Tag Team Titles against PCO and Brody King.
