Backstage news on Moose’s deal with TNA

As most of you know by now, Moose made his TNA debut on the semi-live Impact Wrestling show on Tuesday night. We had noted before that he was offered $100,000 per year. That number might be off but he was offered more than what WWE and ROH were offering him and the Wrestling Observer newsletter reports that the final numbers were $80,000 for the first year and $96,000 for the second year. That is coming from one source that was involved with his talks and attempting to get him from another promotion. Although WWE backed off on signing him, I could see them offering him a deal after in a couple of years when his TNA contract expires.

TNA sources are claiming that he’s getting $75,000 and the deal is similar to the deals they’ve attempted to lock in for the Hardys, EC3 and Drew Galloway. In other words, they can recoup the money that they are paying Moose by getting the rights to book him for indie dates for a maximum of 110 dates. The Hardys, EC3 and Drew Galloway are under contract but have not yet signed the new deals that would allow TNA to handle their bookings. Guys like Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards and Lashley are under the new deal.

Moose still retains the rights to book himself with certain indie promotions. I noted that TNA was looking for a surprise so that they could capitalize on the buzz from The Final Deletion episode. Creative had been working on stuff for him for weeks but he did not sign his contract until Tuesday in Orlando.
