Ethan Carter III comments on winning the TNA World Heavyweight Title

Former WWE creative team member Kevin Eck spoke with Ethan Carter III recently to discuss winning the TNA World Heavyweight Title and it being his first ever title win. Here are the highlights.

We all know pro wrestling is entertainment, but can you put into words what it means to you to be TNA World Champion?

It means the world to me. That is a cliched answer but it is the truth. It warrants everything I’ve done, every sacrifice I made, each piece of personal and professional hell I’ve overcome. For not only the company, but the people on the roster, to have welcomed, approved, and supported me is a justification I can’t put into words. The work was hard to get here, but for me now, it is just getting started. It will get harder. I have a responsibility to put everything I have into this position, and I will. Hopefully it is enough.

What it’s been like for you to work with Kurt Angle, and specifically, to win your first world title over someone of his stature in the business?

I wouldn’t have fallen in love with this industry enough to pursue it if it wasn’t for Kurt Angle. It is a very rare occurrence that you get to have your dream match with those stakes on the line. I’ll never forget that moment and what he said to me after, but like Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation, you’ll never know.
